A Surprising But A Sad Incident- The Pathankot Air Base Attack

It was indeed an surprising and sad incident that took place on the first day of 2016. SP Balwinder Singh tipped off  the cops telling them that he and his cook was abducted by terrorists, who was very well-trained in Pakistan. The cops ignored the information, wasting most of their crucial time. By afternoon on the same day, things were getting out of hand and the situation worsened, with the centre issuing a alert about the terrorists, with their main aim at Pathankot. PM Narendra Modi then held an high level meeting with the NSA, Foreign Secretary and other officials. The NSG was dispatched to Pathankot and was victorious in their operation. But an accidential explosion injured Lieutanant Colonel Niranjan and other NSG officials. According to the Defence Ministry, it was an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that injured Lt. Col. Niranjan and other NSG officials.

Lt.Col. Niranjan, who is a native of Palakkad District, Kerala, had joined the Army 11 years back. He was promoted to the Lt.Col. position from Major sometime back. He is survived by his wife, Dr.Radhika and a two-year old daughter Vismaya. He was very keen on his fitness and took part in all sports and art club activities. Niranjan, who laid down his life for his own country, is and will remain as a braveheart in everybody's hearts.
