The Maharastra Tragedy!!

The Maharashtra Bridge Collapse was an extremely tragic one, which claimed lives of and injured many people. First and foremost, my thoughts go out to those affected and to the kins of those who were killed. The British authorities had warned our government authorities that the British-built bridge would collapse soon. But our officers ignored them by saying that they had inspected it 2 months ago and everything was fine. But look at it now, the bridge has collapsed and claimed many lives. Is this the inspection that you have done 'two months ago'? Why are you silent now? Are you planning another inspection? My 'dear' Government Authorities, please do not ignore 'suggestions' given by others. Look into them and do the needful. People won't say anything without a reason. It is for your own country's citizen's safety, and kindly remember that maybe YOU could have put your family's lives in danger too!

Are we late, too late, or is it the right time to bring strong laws for protecting nature?!

I was just scrolling through the Times of India's website, where I suddenly saw a headline "Hefty penalties SOON  for destruction of Forests. I was just thinking, we is the word 'soon' added to the headline? We can't we just do it now, TODAY. Do you know, one tree is cut down every five minutes. So, by the end of a year, the total number of forests that is cut down goes more than 100. Elders have taught us this particular phrase- Never Keep Anything for Tomorrow That Can Be Done Today. But no one is keeping by this phrase. When we see someone cutting a tree, we may think, "Oh, Its just one tree! Nothing is going to happen if that is cut off." But remember, something will happen, if we continue to think like that and if we do not conserve trees. If I were given a chance to edit a dictionary, I would probably remove the word "soon" and replace it with a "today". Always remember- If your future generation wants to live peacefully w
At last the hot weather has calmed down and it has been raining heavily in Kerala for the past two days. Also, the Legislative Assembly Elections are also going on and everyone are anxious to know whether the rains are going to affect the counting. The meteorology department of Kerala has issued a warning to the fisherman not to go fishing as the waves can go upto 3 meters high in the coastal areas. It is the same situation in Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, and Assam. Relief camps and ... rescue operation are put on standby in TN, just in case anything happens like the flood that occurred in December. In Assam, 16 are injured due to landslides. Kolkata is bracing itself for the storms that are expected to move in the north-east direction. The misery is not only in the Indian states but also in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The torrential rainfall has caused a massive landslide due to which more than 200 families have gone missing. This has occurred in a very remote area in Sri Lanka due to which res

A heavenly activity!

The space is really interesting to know more as well as to learn about it. We feel thrilled and excited when we get to see the heavenly activities such as the eclipses, transitions by planets or other heavenly bodies such as comets or asteroids. Some transitions occur only in a lifetime whereas some occur frequently. * * * We experienced the once in a lifetime transit of Venus through  the Sun on 5 and 6 of June 2012, but it was not that clearly visible from Southern India due to the clouds formed by the south west monsoons. We are about to experience another transition which is currently on its way towards Sun by Mercury. * * * The Mercury Transition will be seen on 9th of May and will be seen as a small dot on the Sun due to the difference in the angular length of Mercury and Earth. It will be viewable from most parts of Asia(except Japan), South America, North America, South Pacific, North Pacific. * * * The Mercury transition will consist of four stages: Contact I (ing

Terrorism!

The recent terror attacks in Brussels and Paris shows us that man is brutal and is immature in many ways. Hundreds of people suffer huge losses due to the terror strikes. Many people are kidnapped and taken away as hostages. In the long run, the worst sufferers are the children of all nations, who are also the future citizens of the world. Terrorism  has no religion. The only religion in the whole world wide is love and care for fellow human beings. I recollect a small incident that I read about in my school. During the Mumbai terror attacks, when the bodies of the dead terrorists where brought to the cemetery, the people who guarded the cemetery did not allow them to be buried there. Human beings actually do not belong to different religions (as I have already told you). There is no Hinduism, Islam, Christianity, Jainism, Buddhism, etc. These so called 'religions' are only man-made,invisible barriers that divide us. But in today's world,  Terrorism  itself has become

Nobel Solutions

The media has been bringing out various programs that are informative and good to watch. Back before, the media was waiting to get a small news to start arguing (it is going on even today). So a small problem in the state or in the nation, that can be easily solved, becomes a big problem. When we switch on the Television and put the news channel, we see people throwing tantrums and screaming, while the poor news reporter from the news centre will be trying to calm down the people who are shouting. * * * But nowadays, the media has been bringing out some positive and informative programs like the Nobel Solutions by the Nobel Laureates that was aired on NDTV. This was a superb program which discussed a lot of noble causes like child labour, poverty, etc. It is for the very first time that the Nobel Laureates come together to focus on the biggest challenges faced by India and the countries.  The speakers where Amartya Sen (Nobel Prize in 1998 in Economics), Kailash Satyarthi (

A Surprising But A Sad Incident- The Pathankot Air Base Attack

It was indeed an surprising and sad incident that took place on the first day of 2016. SP Balwinder Singh tipped off  the cops telling them that he and his cook was abducted by terrorists, who was very well-trained in Pakistan. The cops ignored the information, wasting most of their crucial time. By afternoon on the same day, things were getting out of hand and the situation worsened, with the centre issuing a alert about the terrorists, with their main aim at Pathankot. PM Narendra Modi then held an high level meeting with the NSA, Foreign Secretary and other officials. The NSG was dispatched to Pathankot and was victorious in their operation. But an accidential explosion injured Lieutanant Colonel Niranjan and other NSG officials. According to the Defence Ministry, it was an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that injured Lt. Col. Niranjan and other NSG officials. Lt.Col. Niranjan, who is a native of Palakkad District, Kerala, had joined the Army 11 years back. He was promoted to t
