At last the hot weather has calmed down and it has been raining heavily in Kerala for the past two days. Also, the Legislative Assembly Elections are also going on and everyone are anxious to know whether the rains are going to affect the counting. The meteorology department of Kerala has issued a warning to the fisherman not to go fishing as the waves can go upto 3 meters high in the coastal areas.
It is the same situation in Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, and Assam. Relief camps and... rescue operation are put on standby in TN, just in case anything happens like the flood that occurred in December. In Assam, 16 are injured due to landslides. Kolkata is bracing itself for the storms that are expected to move in the north-east direction.
The misery is not only in the Indian states but also in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The torrential rainfall has caused a massive landslide due to which more than 200 families have gone missing. This has occurred in a very remote area in Sri Lanka due to which rescue operations crew have to walk and start digging with their hands before any heavy equipments can reach up there.
The sad part of the story is the media will brutally neglect these news tomorrow and in the coming days as they have 'more tempting pastures' in the form of elections and subsequent dirty linen washing. Quite Ironically, even the Jisha murder case is like something happened a decade ago for these 'sensationalists'. Majority of the sympathies or the acts of it are only soulless bodies. Let us be wise enough to identify any vested interests coming to us wrapped in attractive covers! 🙂
