Shadow Cabinet in Kerala
A new cabinet has taken oath on Saturday. Now you all may be wondering- "Which cabinet is he taking about? There are a few more days left for the Karnataka election". No, I am not talking about the Karnataka government. I am talking about a shadow cabinet that has been formed in Kerala.
There is not much reported by the media about it, as usual, but the shadow cabinet has been formed with the aim of monitoring government decisions and making it 'public-friendly'. The most interesting fact is that it is composed not by any politicians or run by any party, but by the civilians.
Now all of you might be wanting to know more about 'Shadow Cabinet', so I have looked up in the internet and found out what it really is, so as to give you a more clearer idea of what it actually is-
"A shadow cabinet is an alternative cabinet formed with the aim of monitoring government decisions. Often the Opposition comprises a shadow cabinet, but in this case, the Congress and all other political parties have been left out of it and it is made up of members of the public, including several associated with social work and non-governmental organisations. The United Kingdom is one of several countries that have shadow cabinets, but there too, the cabinet is made up of members of Opposition parties."

Like the actual government cabinet, it also has portfolios like Finance, Home Ministry, etc. The shadow cabinet is led by a woman by the name Asha, who is an advocate by profession.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at a function held in Kochi and the cabinet was sworn in by Dalit activist, Prakash Ambedkar. Jayashree Chantharath is the revenue minister, Anil EP is heading the finance while John PT is heading the agriculture.
Let us hope that this new programme implemented by the Kerala Government be of some help to the public and also continue on under the coming governments.
